Paul Heley’s journey to becoming the owner and heart behind AZ Stay & Play is anything but ordinary. After spending 11 years as an elementary school teacher, Paul found himself drawn to the thrill of the watercraft industry. He spent years repairing jet skis at a Phoenix rental business and even acquired a half-interest in that venture. Ultimately, he made a life-changing decision: leave the classroom and dive fully into recreation.
Rooted in Tonto Basin
A decade ago, Paul began spending weekends in Tonto Basin, captivated by the area’s open space and natural allure. When he sold his house in Phoenix, he invested in property near Roosevelt Lake to bring his vision to life. For nearly nine years, he commuted on weekends while supporting himself as a handyman, but everything changed when he turned 50. That milestone marked a full commitment—he moved permanently to the area and launched AZ Stay & Play.
